Daily Protective Serum

It’s a great daily sunscreen for my face, lightweight and works well under my makeup.

Applies easily without leaving any white residue behind. I use it every day!

Although I really like the feel on my skin, unfortunately it leaves a noticeable and lasting white haze due to the zinc oxide, even when it’s rubbed in well. Would not purchase it again.

Goes on easy with no delay to 'sink in'. I'm following up with a moisturizer and then my usual simple make up which is behaving as if the serum wasn't there. In a good way. I assume it's blocking the sun but haven't really tested it on a super exposed day. On those days I have added a stronger sunblock to be sure. Nice smell.

I love the serum. It is lightweight and has SPF. It goes on smoothly and soaks in quickly.

Fantastic product! The consistency is thin but the coverage is excellent. I was very skeptical of a sunscreen because they always seem to clog my pores and leave a greasy film. Mad Hippie Daily Protective Serum vanishes completely and makes a perfect base for a tinted moisturizer. This seems to act like a primer for me, as it helps my tinted moisturizer to stay in place better yet doesn't feel like a layer on my skin. I've never been much of a sunscreen user but now I find myself reaching for this every day!

I absolutely love this serum mineral sunscreen! It's true to It's name with a serum consistency + texture and it applies so evenly. I'm light skinned and it doesn't appear to leave a white cast. When first applying, it seemed it may leave a white cast but blended in. Curious if it reacts the same for darker skin tones. Definitely recommend this product and plan to keep this as one of my staple sunscreens. I wish the SPF was higher and do wonder how much of the serum or layers I should apply to ensure it's doing its thing. The bottle is easy to keep in my bag to reapply but I do usually layer another sunscreen on top of it. Mainly for the extra protection but currently have a sunscreen to give a "glow" effect and the 2 sunscreens do well with each other. No piling etc. Cocokind and Mad Hippie have become my must haves in my skincare routine. Thank you for making amazing products, having generous sales so those of us can afford to keep restocking and the one time I chatted with customer service to help me with a product reaction issue; they were incredibly kind, professional and understanding. Felt so spoiled and appreciated the info they gave to help me understand the 'why' to why I reacted. Was incredibly helpful because it taught me not to mix 2 ingredients that don't always do well. One of my favorite products! Great,even coverage and sun protection. My year round staple, but especially in summer.

I love this serum because it’s light, water proof, cruelty free, great ingredients, and the “white cast” is very minimal. The one thing that I don’t like is about 50% of the time it separates, even after shaking and keeping it out of the heat.

I’ve been using this product for 5ish years, so right there that says a lot. It works, and it doesn’t stain the collars and necklines of my shirts if I’m careful, which is mainly why I started using this serum. I need throat protection, as well as collarbone, and I hated the heavy, greasier products that gave me ring around the collar. I appt it after my morning moisturizer all over my face and neck, let it soak in, then top off with a tinted moisturizer in spf30. I’m outside all day, so this routine is necessary! I love it, and my skin loves it! One continual gripe; the applicator “squirts” and splatters if you aren’t super careful, and secondly, no matter how much you shake it, every-time, the bottom of your bottle is going to be thin and very runny. Despite a few cuss words to that effect, I do love this serum for how it protects and feels light on my skin.

Leaves my face glowing and protected! I use the daily protective serum every single day. It has become a nonnegotiable in my very minimalist skincare routine.

Light and non greasy sunscreen! Does not cause breakouts, will continue to re purchase. Only wish it came in SPF 50!

This is my second purchase of the Daily Protective Serum. It absorbs easily and has a nice smoothing finish. My only complaint is it leaves a white cast. I'm going to try the Sheer Tint Sun Serum next, but I wish you'd bring back the medium/dark tinted sun serum for darker skin tones!

I’m loving all these products. I’m a new fan and have since ordered almost the whole line! This serum in particular has such great texture and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily at all!

The pros are that this sunblock is really lovely to put on and doesn’t feel greasy or have a heavy whitecast (although of course it has some.)

The real bummer is the Vitamin C. It gave me a rash.

I cannot seem to be able to find a nice sunscreen (which this is!) that doesn’t have either Vitamin C or niacinamide. I think it’s a good product in general but I just want a mineral sunscreen with no extra things. Both the tinted and non-tinted version have Vitamin C and honestly, it’s an unnecessary ingredient that can cause reactive skin issues for a lot of people.

I seriously dislike sunscreen on my face but I do not want to look like the leathered-skin old women of Florida. After trying many other products and brands, I Came Upon This at the local Whole Foods store and instantly liked it. Serum, moisturizer, and this sunscreen and I'm good to go! It applies very nicely, no goop, no stickiness, and no white cast. Perfect. Whole Foods had Mad Hippie on sale and snagged a few items and stocked up. I love that i can pick up MH products locally and not have to deal with minimum purchase to get free shipping.

I researched a mineral-based sun protection product for a while and was excited to find this serum and to learn about the ethics of MH. I have only used it for one day, but so far, I notice no sensitivities; my skin feels soft and clean and not sticky or suffocated.

My only question is this: I have a minimal skincare routine—wash face with warm water, apply just enough jojoba oil to seal in moisture and not leave my skin oily. Is it ok to apply the Daily Protection Serum on TOP of the jojoba oil as the last step in my face care routine?
